Photos of The Cat

October 9, 2007

Catriona CurrieWell it’s been a busy few days around here, as you can imagine.  Jenn and Catriona stayed in hospital until Saturday morning (and yes I was right there with them the whole time), and then once Cat had passed all the tests, and Jenn was feeling a little better, they sent us on our way.  Which of course led us to Burger King to get Jenn some REAL food (you know the state of hospital food when The King is coming off as real food).  This all worked out wonderfully, as it gave Jenn and I the better part of a day to figure out how all this baby stuff works around home.  Slowly but surely we have.  What also worked out well is that because Thanksgiving dinner was slated for Sunday, and a great deal of Jenn’s family (along with my parents) were all coming to Jenn’s Mom’s (aka Grandma’s) house for dinner.  This means that the majority of family members could meet Catriona for the first time all at once.  Overwhelming sure, but also convenient.  And generally that went very well.

Today Jenn and I have taken Cat to our family doctor, who gave her his seal of approval, along with some medically backed up advice.  We also went to our local Health Unit as they offer a weekly weigh in for babies, where we found out that Catriona had gained about 3/4’s of an ounze since she left the hospital.  This is good news, as it means she is getting enough food and gaining weight.  So it’s been a busy week, as I said.  Sadly tomorrow is my last day off, before I return to work on Thursday.  I am not going to want to, but my contribution to this is the make money and I need to be at work to accomplish that.  I figure that once I’m able to take some more time off, I will,

while Jenn is off, when Cat is capable of doing more things than she can now.  I am sad that I will miss out on subtle changes each day while I’m at work, but we can’t all be everyone all the time.  Jenn will see them and I think she will need some Mommy/Daughter time soon, with just the two of them.

So far, I’m loving being a Dad, just like my Dad said I would.  It’s hard and I’m tired (and not half as tired as Jenn is).  But it’s fun to have this new little being here, and I love her so much.

Last word:  If you wish to see tons of pics of Catriona, I have put them up on my flickr.com account.  Go there to check out how cute she is (Yes I’m biased).
